Celebrate the Summer Solstice with community acupuncture!

Saturday, June 21 is the Summer Solstice!  We are celebrating this first official day of summer by offering acupuncture in a group setting for a sliding scale rate.  The sliding scale is set between $20 and $40 which basically means pay what you can afford.  No questions asked.  It is loosely based on the economic scale below.

Income First appointment paperwork fee Acupuncture treatments
Under $25,000    $15 $20
$25,000 – $30,000    $15 $25
$30,000 – $40,000    $15  $30
$40,000 – $50,000    $15  $35
$50,000 +    $15  $40

This type of acupuncture is a new model of affordable healthcare.  It originated in Portland, Oregon with Working Class Acupuncture http://www.workingclassacupuncture.org.  Community acupuncture has been tried and tested successfully all over the United States.  Leslie has worked at community clinics in California such as Petaluma Community Acupuncture http://www.petalumacommunityacupuncture.com where she did back office work and attended the front desk.  In 2011 she started the first community acupuncture clinic ever in Argentina.  She is now implementing this amazing and accessible form of treatment at balanceYoga in Piqua, Ohio!  People that may not have been able to afford a one-on-one session with the acupuncturist, or be able to pay for acupuncture weekly (which is at least how often people should be getting it) will now be able to get acupuncture at a more affordable price and more consistently.

A community acupuncture visit looks something like this:  You come in for your appointment, are greeted at the door, and quietly shown your seat.  If this is your first time for community acupuncture, there will be a 15 minute initial intake with Leslie and paperwork to be filled out and signed.  Then, you will choose one of the zero-gravity chairs and wait your turn to get acupuncture.  After the needles are in, you will most likely settle into a deep state of relaxation and possibly even take a nap!  You can stay for however long you like.  Approximate times are anywhere from 30-60 minutes.

If you have always wanted to try acupuncture but have been apprehensive about trying it by yourself, this is a great opportunity.  You can bring a friend or family member and get acupuncture together!  Community Acupuncture will take place at balanceYoga every Saturday from 12-4 pm.  Sign up now by e-mailing leslieroeth@gmail.com or scheduling online under acupuncture at www.balanceyogabyamanda.com.
