In Chinese Medicine we believe that where there is pain, blood or qi (energy) is stuck or stagnated and therefore not able to move properly. The suction created by cupping is able to pull the stagnation to the surface, removing the blockage and allowing healthy blood and qi to repair the area and heal the pain.

Cupping leaves marks on the skin that will eventually fade 3-5 days after the treatment. The marks look like bruises, but do not hurt and are a result of the stagnated blood rising to the surface. You can see a picture of the effects of cupping above.
